Pecos SS has a major sustainable brackish water resource in Pecos County Texas. The company has a permit to sell 212,000 barrels of water per day from the Middle Pecos Groundwater Conservation District. Pecos SS has drilled and completed five wells with a total flow capacity exceeding the permitted rate. Plans are to install a pipeline to deliver the water to a nearby county for oil and gas operations, including hydraulic fracturing.
The water quality is brackish, with about 5,300 parts per million (ppm) total dissolved solids (TDS) and chloride of 1,125 ppm. This brackish water, while not fit for drinking, was used for agriculture historically and continues to be used for a nearby pecan grove.
